Derek Janoff is a saxophonist currently based in South Florida. He is a graduate of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where he studied privately with Marcus Strickland and other world-class musicians. During his time at Frost, he performed with premier ensembles including the Frost Studio Jazz Band under Etienne Charles and the Frost Jazz Orchestra directed by John Daversa. Influenced by saxophone legends such as Sonny Rollins, Hank Mobley, Grover Washington Jr. and Jimmy Heath, Derek delivers a polished, modern sound rooted in jazz tradition while embracing contemporary sophistication.

 

Known for his dynamic performances, Derek turns each show into an unforgettable musical experience. He is a sought-after performer in the luxury event entertainment world, regularly appearing at premier South Florida venues including The Ritz-Carlton, The Breakers Palm Beach, and Mar-a-Lago Club.

In addition to performing, Derek is passionate about mentoring young musicians and helping develop the next generation of great saxophonists. He currently serves as a saxophone adjunct teacher at Westminster Christian School, where he works with students on their musical development.
